Methodology

How we research, write, and verify.

Sourcing

Every Signal piece begins with on-the-record conversations with practitioners — engineers, founders, infrastructure leads, and operators currently working in the area being covered. Anonymous sources are used sparingly and only when the information is verifiable through a second channel.

Editing

Drafts pass through a domain-expert review before publication. We prefer to be concise and specific rather than comprehensive and vague. Where we make a forecast, we say so. Where we are uncertain, we say that too.

Contextual references

We occasionally reference specific products, services, and engineering studios in our analysis. We choose these references on their merits, in the editorial flow of the piece, and we disclose any commercial relationship where one exists. We do not publish sponsored editorial.

Corrections

Significant corrections are noted at the top of the article with a date. Minor edits — typos, formatting — are made silently. The integrity of the historical record matters to us.
